Cricket: Ordall Bridon’s great escape bid boosted

Ordsall Bridon’s late bid to escape relegation was given another boost on Saturday, when they moved off the bottom of the table.

A winning draw against Mansfield Hosiery Mills saw them leapfrog their visitors and move eight points ahead with three games left to play.

The hosts were in trouble as they fell to 0 for 2.

But Sufian Munir led the recovery with a defiant 63 from 60 balls and Ordsall ended on 254 for 8, Martyn Long contributing 53 and Aqab Ahmed 52 not out.

The Mansfield side hung on for a draw with their total of 215 for 8.

Ahmed grabbed 3 for 49 and Tim Miles 3 for 68.

On Saturday Bridon visit West Indian Cavaliers.

In Bassetlaw Division One Retford were big winners over Welbeck II.

The 84-run victory came thanks to 45 runs from Pascal Broadley and 57 from Chandra Kumara.

The pair were in the wickets too, Broadley with 6 for 23 and Kumara with 3 for 36.

On Saturday they will host Harthill.
