Clumber elected to bat on a difficult track and did an excellent job.

It turned out to be a day for survival and getting what you could as it was virtually impossible to score without taking a risk.

Individual scores weren’t massive, but Clumber occupied the crease.

Star of the show was James Davies as top scorer with 30 runs (worth about 130 on a normal track). In partnership, he and skipper Mark Dean added a crucial 40-plus and others chipped in to see them somehow bat out their overs for 120-9.

It proved a competitive total as they blew Shirebrook away for 33 all out.

Zak Berridge (2-10) struck with his very first ball and, bizarrely, Mark Dean (3-6) and Hayden Cox (2-0) also got wickets with their first balls.

One of which was thanks to a fantastic ‘worldie’ diving catch from Dave Taylor.

The returning Ben Perkins chipped in with 2-11.

This Saturday they host top of the league Milton.

Clumber's second team lost a low-scoring home clash against Bawtry with Everton.

Electing to field, Clumber opened with the young duo of Matt Hampshire and Michael Edwards. Edwards (1-13) while Chris Ward (2-22) entered the attack at first change.

At drinks, Bawtry were 50-4 but managed to rebuild with a little cameo from a couple of their middle order batsmen.

That was until Lee Rodgers (2-20) managed to get the dangerman caught on the offside.

Captain, Darren Edwards came on and took three wickets at the death to restrict Bawtry to 129-9.

At the interval, Clumber fancied their chances of chasing down this total.

However, it wasn't to be as they crumbled to 46-7 with only Chris Ward (26) troubling the scorers at that point.

All seemed lost, but a partnership of 17 between Michael Edwards and Tim Beer (32 no) turned the game around and made the score start to look slightly respectable.

Darren Edwards (17) joined Beer at the crease, moving them to 104-9 after the 40 overs – 25 runs short.

This weekend the seconds are be looking to claim their first victory of the season at North Wheatley with Leverton.

Clumber's third team continued their winning streak with a five wicket success over visiting Killamarsh Juniors.

Clumber opened their bowling attack with two young guns, Nathan Morley (0-6) and Rafay Rehan (0-10).

While surprisingly wicketless given the number of times they beat the edge, both bowled excellently and set the standard.

Imogen Bownes (3-4) and Samodh Nadkarni (1-22) came on at first change and made a huge impact.

Bownes got the breakthrough with an LBW, then claimed her second courtesy of a great catch from Nadkarni before a diving one-handed catch from Darren Spooner brought up her third.

Jasper Spooner (2-34) opened his account for the season with a much-improved spell, and Noah Marriott (1-21) also managed to pick one up.

After their 40 overs, Killamarsh finished 110-8.

Darren Ridout (3) and Noah Marriott (17) opened the batting, with Marriott batting finely for a good chunk of the innings.

He was ably supported by Nadkarni (11), who performed well at No.3 in the batting line-up.

Bownes (23) and Darren Spooner (30 no) had a great cameo, showing off an array of shots which ultimately led to victory.

This weekend they are at home again to Anston.
