2012 cricket season set for opener

RETFORD open their 2012 Bassetlaw Championship cricket season on Saturday, as they host Thoresby Colliery.

Rivals Ordsall Bridon are also at home, taking on Anston.

After a disappointing campaign last year, Retford have signed Australian opening batsman David Mitchell from Sydney, and the consistent opening bat Mark Bull has joined them from Killamarsh.

Wicket-keeper batsman Charlie Maloney has rejoined the club from Weston for the new season.

Ordsall Bridon are yet again captained by Marc Brewer and they welcome back Darren Spooner from neighbours Retford.

One winter disappointment however, was the loss of the services of Aaron Haycock to Tickhill.
