Comfortable victory marred by bad injury

GAINSBOROUGH All Blacks travelled to Mosborough on Saturday and came away with a comfortable win, although they did not play to their recent high standards.

This was a new fixture, the two teams not having met before, so neither was quite sure what to expect.

The Gainsborough side showed nine changes from the previous week’s outing which is always a little unsettling and the Mossborough side was a forward dominated unit.

Unfortunalty the game ended early because of an injury to the home winger who had to go to hospital with a back injury, but at the time of the incident Gainsborough had got themselves well in charge.

The side was captained on the day by the returning Elliott Humphrey, who went on to show that his three weeks away from action have not blunted his enthusiasm or damaged his fitness.

He scored a good try, tackled well and walked away at the end of the game with the Man of the Match award.

The All Blacks generally struggled to dominate the hosts forwards, and did not provide quality ball to the three quarters, but what ball did come out was used effectively.

Before that however Mossborough took the lead through a well taken try.

Gainsborough scored their first two tries and then the home side scored twice again before the All Blacks dominated the scoreboard.

Other tries for the All Blacks were scored by Chadwick, playing in the centre, a chip and chase score by fly half Parker and James Taylor crashed over to touch down.

Parker scored six points with the conversions.

Forty points, all scored in the first half of the game, was excellent entertainment for those watching.

Unfortunalty the full 80 minutes was not played due to the injury.

All at Gainsborough wish the player well and look forward to welcoming Mosborough to Gainsborough later in the season.

Next week sees the All Blacks entertain Lincoln III and the Maoris make the short trip to Ollerton to play Ollerton II.
