Coach back for weekend

Sheffield Steelers head coach Doug Christiansen returns to the country for this weekend’s games against Coventry and Belfast.

The ice hockey supremo returned home to America after the death of his father, but will be back behind the bench when his Steelers side travel to Coventry Blaze on Saturday.

And Belfast Giants will be the visitors to the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield on Sunday at 5pm.

Steelers owner Tony Smith said: “We have stayed in close contact with Doug whilst he has been away.”

“We have every sympathy for him and his family at this time. We are however very pleased that he will be returning in time for these two games.”
