Clumber set to host national road runners

CLUMBER Park has stepped in to rescue a national road running event.

The National Trust venue will host the ‘National 6 and 4 stage road relays’ on Saturday, a race that was cancelled after an E. coli outbreak in Sutton Park, Birmingham, the original venue.

But an offer of help from Clumber was accepted, and the races will go ahead from 1.30pm on Saturday.

A spokesman for the English Road Runners Assocation said: “Since the original cancellation of the road relays we were delighted to have received several offers of help.” “Of all the offers we had, by far the most accessible, practical and agreeable for fast road-running was the magnificent Clumber Park.”

“Set in over 4,000 acres, it is truly a roadrunner’s paradise.”
