Cliff Middleton, a former Senior Planner with West Lindsey District Council, was rather appropriately the star performer in the first of the three West Lindsey Race Series – the Saxilby 5k.

Middleton set a new all-time club record in the V60 age-group with a fabulous time of 22 mins 52 secs, an improvement of 11 seconds off the previous record.

He adds that record to the V40-44 record he set in 1988.

Abbie Wood (27:11) set a new personal best by over two minutes and Tracy Moseley (29:24) eclipsed over a minute off her previous best time.

Gary Atkinson also ran a personal best of 20:40 by 20 seconds.

Two Striders making their debut 5K races were Neil Broughton (28:54) and Kirsty Pell (30:18).

Other Striders times were: Dan Edwards (18:57), Simon Hall (20:44), Angela Overson (21:55), Chris Inman (22:28), Shaun Boyle (23:58), Emma Robinson (24:54) , Stacy Lyner (27:17), Viki Hearn (28:14) and Michelle Chapman (28:29).

Ten Striders competed in the Isle of Axholme Half-Marathon at Epworth.

Helen Robinson sliced an incredible four minutes off her previous best time to record a new PB of 1 hour 38 mins 22 secs.

Robinson moves into third place on the all-time ladies rankings as well as, now, topping the FV40-44 age-group.

Jon Drake also ran an excellent new personal best time of 1 hour 28 mins 4 secs and becomes the 50th member of the sub-90 mins club.

Other Striders times were: Alan Clark (1:25:59), Andy Trowsdale (1:39:03), Stu Mills (1:42:00), Chris Litherland (1:43:40), Simon Hunt (1:46:17), Glenn Peniston (1:59:38), Mick Wood (2:05:26) and Mark Cutts (2:05:45).

A trio of lady Striders bagged new personal bests at the Nottingham Half-Marathon.

Karen Cox (2:09:53) and Shelly Ibbotson (2:09:54) both knocked over six minutes off their previous times.

Lottie Lindley also ran a new personal best of 1:59:16.

Clare Hardwick registered a fine debut time of 2 hours 8 mins 55 secs.

Other Striders times: Craig Ward (1:42:02) and Gemma Wright (2:03:23).

In the latest Scunthorpe 5K parkrun Elliott Clark set a splendid new personal best of 19:06.

Eight year old Jasper Humphries ran an excellent time of 25 mins 19 secs in his debut parkrun.

Claire Jarvis, another parkrun debutante, ran 31:52.

Rebecca Cross (25:39) and Jerry McCulla (43:51) ran with some of the Saxilby Couch to 5K programme ‘graduates’ and helped them to some promising performances.

Other Striders times were: Tom Humphries (25:19) and Reagan McCulla (34:48).
