British GP at Silverstone: Booth happy with Lotus scalp

Speaking to the Guardian after Glock was classified 20th, one place ahead of Trulli, the Marussia Virgin Racing boss said his lead driver was happy with how the rain-affected day had panned out.

“We’re pleased just to claim one Lotus,” he said.

“I presume Trulli didn’t have a good first run, and Timo got a lap nailed. Timo was very pleased.”

“Jerome made a couple of mistakes on his first set of tyres and didn’t get a chance to get a second run.”

The Laughton man was frustrated with the lack of data his team was able to capture due to the weather.

“For tomorrow’s set-up the team will pour over the little data we have.”

“What we won’t know much about is tyre degredation. We have no idea how hard it’s going to be on the tyres tomorrow, the track temperature could be 10 degrees higher.”

The aim for the Dinnington Formula One outfit is to get both Glock and d’Ambrosio to the chequered flag in tomorrow’s race.

Booth added: “If it’s a dry race, it will be very difficult to get much further than 16th or 17th.”

Glock and his team-mate were upbeat after the qualifying sessions.

Speaking before a sponsor dinner and a visit to the team’s fanbase at the Marussia Virgin Racing Weekend at Stowe School, Glock said he got the best out of his MVR-02 car.

“I’m quite happy with where we are today - I got Trulli and it was a pretty good lap.”

“With a new set of tyres you have this one magic moment to make it all come good and I just made the best of it at the right time.”

“I’m very excited for our home race tomorrow.”

D’Ambrosio admitted being at fault in his first run, but is still hopeful for a good result tomorrow.

“With the weather changing I was unable to get a second run, which was unfortunate as I made a mistake on the fastest lap of my first fun.”

“But I think in general it’s not so bad and it should be a good run tomorrow.”
