Chris Boyle’s X Box Boxing Academy have shifted all the tickets for their first ever fight night, and the head coach says his young fighters are raring to go.

“The lads are all ready,” he said.

“Quite a few of them are fighting in their first ever bout, so there are some nerves, especially with it being a home show.”

“But they’re very excited and ready to get in the ring.”

Before any of the X Box pugilists step in between the ropes, their coach says they’ve already made him proud.

“I’m immensely proud of all my boxers who have trained hard and remained disciplined within their lives, to be the bravest of the brave and step in that ring on Thursday night.”

“They’re putting Worksop on the map for the right reasons.”

“They’re showing what can be accomplished with hard work and dedication.”

“Myself and everyone at the club are with them all the way.”

Although bouts are subject to late changes, there are nine local boxers matched for the show.

At schoolboy level, Langold’s Lewis Woodward will take on Callum Ramsey of Sheffield Boxing Centre, while Elliott Holloway of X Box is to face Sonny Steele from Epic GG.

Langold junior Kieran Jackson will fight Kayne Laing of Phoenix, and X Box juniors Matthew Jones and Jack Wale will take on Mcauley Haywood (Phoenix) and Thomas Sams of Brodsworth.

In the evening’s youth bouts, X Box prospect Declan Cairns is matched against Oxers fighter Liam Jones, and Cole Blair is up against Phoenix’s Joe Benner.

In the elite section, Simon Williams of the host club, and his team-mate Richard Herrick are scheduled to face Jamie Phillips of Retford and Mathew Poxon from Barnsley Star respectively.

Herrick’s fight is set to be the main event of the evening, with the bouts beginning at 8pm.
