Big win for second side

East Retford Rugby Club’s second team finished the season in midtable, after a fine 55-0 victory at home to Melbourne.

With double the points up for grabs Retford took the game straight to the visitors, C. Clarke skipping past his opposite number to score in the corner.

From the restart Retford went straight back on the attack and it wasn’t too long before Holland picked up at the back of a scrum to drive over.

Freeman converted.

Excellent attacking play resulted in two more tries from Agar and Spencer, with Freeman converting both from tight angles.

The second half began with Retford carrying on where they left off and further tries from Clarke and Holland made it 34-0.

All there subs came on and this paid off well with Lavin and Wittingham making excellent tackles and recycling the ball well.

The next try came from Prince, before Wilkinson pushed away three tacklers to pop the ball to Spencer to go over. Freeman added both conversions.

The final try of the day came from Agar who from his own five metre line side stepped three players, pushed off two more tackles and ran in to score.
