Beacons in driving seat

LIBERAL Club Beacons returned to the top of the Gainsborough and District Table Tennis League Division One after beating basement club Dynamics 9-1 and then overcoming Blitz Anacondas by the same score.

Dynamics also went down 8-2 to Blitz Bunnies for whom Steve Johnson and Jacob Marshall both won all their singles and then united to win the doubles, their other point coming from Kieran Crawford.

In Division Two second-placed Liberal Branch Dynamos went down 6-4 to Blitz Clowns but were not helped by Paul Cooper having to concede his last two games. Nick Keast won all his games for Clowns.

Blues Club Kestrels kept the pressure on the top two teams with a 10-0 victory over a two-man Blitz Dingos.

The league’s closed championships take place on Sunday 11th March at the High School and any league player wishing to participate can do so by using the entry form near the rear of the handbook.

Results: Division One - Beacons 9, Dynamics 1; Anacondas 1, Beacons 9; Dynamics 2, Bunnies 8. Division Two - Clowns 6, Dynamos 4; Dingos 0, Kestrels 10; Batmen 9, Clowns 1.
