Another speed judging win for Daniel

DANIEL Nicholson continued his domination of Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club’s speed judging contest when he claimed first place in Sunday’s fourth round.

The seven riders left Roseway under the direction of timekeeper Hedley Stennett and made their way out of town to Cow Lane, Upton, and the starting point for the 5.8 mile circular route.

The course took the riders though Upton and Kexby, turning left along Glentworth Road and making a left turn to the start/finish point on Cow Lane.

First place and six points went to Daniel Nicholson who chose two laps in 57 minutes, his time was 57 minutes 39 seconds giving him a time that was 39 seconds slow; second place and five points was Trevor Halstead who chose three laps in 66 minutes, his time was 69 minutes 13 seconds, giving him a time that was 3 minutes 13 seconds slow; third place (four points) went to Mark Clark who chose two laps in 71 minutes, his time was 67 minutes 11 seconds, giving him a time that was 3 minutes 49 seconds fast; Matt Hindmarsh claimed fourth place and three points, choosing three laps in 79 minutes, his time was 66 minutes 09 seconds, giving him a time that was 3 minute 51 seconds fast; 12-year-old Liam Hindmarsh was fifth with two points when he chose three laps in 79 minutes, his time was 73 minutes 57 seconds, giving him a time that was 5 minutes 03 seconds fast; in sixth place and one point was Dave Day who chose three laps in 75 minutes; his time was 85 minutes 20 seconds, giving him a time that was 10 minutes 20 seconds slow; seventh was Paul Reynolds who chose three laps in 74 minutes, his time was 63 minutes 21 seconds, giving him a time that was 10 minutes 39 seconds fast.

Overall result: Daniel Nicholson 24 points; Matt Hindmarsh 15; Mark Clark 11; Trevor Halstead 10; Dave Day 6; Liam Hindmarsh 6; Paul Reynolds 5; Colin Smith 4; Simon Hobday 2; Michael Dawson 1.

On Sunday 15th January there wil be a 40-mile leisure ride - meet at Roseway, Gainsborough, 9.20am. The ride is suitable for beginners.
