Annual five mile trial

Retford and District Wheelers held it’s annual five-mile handicap time trial last Sunday.

In cold and windy conditions only nine riders faced the time keeper for what is the last club event of this year.

The winner, on handicap, was Roger Pennington, just edging out Alan Hazard with last year’s winner Matthew Waters in third place.

The results on actual time were: A. Hazard 13 minutes 31 seconds, M. Waters 14-11, R. Pennington 14-13, G. Waters 15-56, S. Askin 16-38, Ana Gill 16-51, P. Bexon 16-58, D. Jarvis 17-14 and B. Botham 17-33.

The club’s annual dinner and prize presentation at the Markham Moor Hotel followed later in the day with guest of honour, and paralympics hopeful Crystal Lane presenting the prizes.

The club ride this Sunday will be to Saxilby, a distance of about 50 miles over flat terrain, making it an ideal outing for new riders.

Meet in the market square at 9am prompt.
