A week full of surprises in Division Two

At the summit, DTH Redlands Joggers had two results with contrasting fortunes.

In a rearranged match from mid-December they came up against third placed DTH Redlands Morris Men who turned the form book upside down to grab a well earned draw and ensure that the Joggers dropped their first point of the season.

Callum Shutt and Tom McIntosh both won two games each with Owen Shutt managing a single win over James Maher.

Despite finding themselves 5-3 down the Joggers managed to fight back to take a point with Jim Kenny winning a five set thriller with Owen Shutt in the final match of the nigh to maintain the Joggers unbeaten run.

Peter Cowburn continued his excellent form this season for the Joggers winning all his three games yet again and is still the only player to remain unbeaten in Division Two.

Cowburn and Kenny then teamed up for another five set game this time in the doubles rubber against McIntosh and Owen Shutt managing to win the final game 12-10.

The Joggers second match inside a week came against another DTH Redlands side in the Echidnas who didn’t cause the Joggers many problems with the Joggers running out 9-1 winners.

Despite putting up a spirited performance the Echidnas could only manage the one win on the night which came for an ever improving Kyle McIntosh who beat James Maher in five games.

For the Joggers , team captain Dennis Learad registered a treble along with Jim Kenny with James Maher adding a further two wins.

Maher and Learad then teamed up to comfortably win the doubles against McIntosh and Ewan Pickersgill.

The result leaves the Joggers six points clear at the top.

The other surprise in Division Two came as DTH Redlands Zygabytes B withdrew from the league due to lack of players which meant that all of their results this season became null and void.

The biggest affect it had on the league table was to Manton Sports who found themselves replacing the Zygabytes in bottom place and furthermore, four points adrift and favourites for the drop.

In Division Three DTH Redlands Allsorts went back to the top of the table with a win against Ryton Park Cougars.

Once again Tom McIntosh starred for the Allsorts registering yet another maximum but he was well supported by his team mates Lee Bohan who also won all his three games and Lewis Comley who chipped in with two wins to register a 9-1 victory.

The Allsorts are one point ahead of Stanley Street B and two points ahead of DTH Redlands Tarr Babies who both now have a game in hand on the Allsorts which all points to a very intriguing run in to the end of the season.
