Who won WWE Elimination Chamber 2020? results and recap as Shayna Baszler dominates

The WWE made one last pay-per-view stop on the road to Wrestlemania with Elimination Chamber on Sunday 8 March.

Shayna Baszler dominated, Miz and John Morrison stood their ground and The Deadman himself returned once again to haunt AJ Styles.

Here’s how it all went down.

The Viking Raiders v Curt Hawkings and Zack Ryder

An odd match-up to start things off, with relative unknowns Hawkings and Ryder asked to hold their own against the towering Erik and Ivar.

They gave a plucky underdog performance but there was no way back once Ryder found himself in a two on one. One Viking Experience later and a three-count put a swift end to the night.

The Raiders will see this as a comfortable warm-up heading into Wrestlemania while Ryder and Hawkings can take pride in having stood in the same ring as them without looking out of place.

Winner: The Viking Raiders

Daniel Bryan v Drew Gulak

A bone-crunching match filled with heavy blows and back-breaking suplexes.

There had been much talk around Bryan’s neck injuries heading into the bout, and of how Gulak might exploit them. A thunderous German suplex looked set to be the match’s “sweep the leg” moment, only for Bryan to bounce straight back.

A series of elbows were enough to open up Gulak for a Yes Lock, and the lock was enough to force him to tap.

Winner: Daniel Bryan

Andrade v Humberto Carrillo for the United States Championship

This is the seventh time these two have gone at it since Halloween, which was both a blessing and a curse – they’ve got a great sense of each other’s moves which makes for an excellent match-up, but they’ve also started to run a little dry on new ideas.

Never one to pass up an artificial advantage, Andrade tried to DDT Carrillo on to the concrete only to be countered. The two then went tit-for-tat trading pinfall attempts, only for Andrade to finally secure the count by grabbing Carrillo’s tights.

Winner: Andrade (retains United States title)

The Miz and John Morrison v The Usos v The New Day v Lucha House Party v Heavy Machinery v Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship

This Elimination Chamber tag match contained plenty of high-wire moments befitting such a chaotic set-up.

Dorado launched himself from the top of the chamber into a shooting star press. Tucker landed a massive plancha from the roof of a pod. Otis sent himself crashing through one of the pods as he tried to charge down Ziggler.

It was a madcap match that ultimately saw The Usos going hard after the title, eliminating most of the other competitors before taking on the champions themselves. However, a crafty, rope-assisted team pin from Miz and Morrison was enough to ensure they walked back out with the gold.

Winner: The Miz and John Morrison (retain the Smackdown Tag Team Championship)

Aleister Black v AJ Styles

As a no-disqualification match, this showdown was typically brutal with The OC quickly staging a ring invasion to give Styles a three on one advantage.

All seemed lost until the lights went down unexpectedly, as they have done so many times in WWE history, coming back up to reveal the black-clad figure of The Undertaker.

Gallows and Anderson were quickly dismissed before Styles tried to slay the Taker with a Phenomenal Forearm, only to find himself caught by the throat and crashed into the mat.

Another blackout and Taker vanished, leaving Black to hit a Black Mass Kick and claim the win.

AJ Styles versus The Undertaker at Wrestlemania now seems all but assured.

Winner: Aleister Black

The Street Profits v Seth Rollins and Murphy for the Raw Tag Team Championship

Another interference-heavy match – this one saw Rollins and Murphy escorted to the ring by Authors of pain, only for The Viking Raiders to re-appear and scrap it out with them, leading the battle away backstage.

Later on, Kevin Owens came wandering down through the crowd, munching on popcorn and distracting Rollins while the Profits took him out.

Montez Ford then landed a frogsplash on Murphy, pinning him and retaining their titles.

Winner: The Street Profits (retain RAW Tag Team Championship)

Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro and Sami Zayn v Braun Strowman for the Intercontinental Championship

The key narrative to this three on one tag match was Braun’s burning desire to get his hands on Zayn.

In truly Shakespearean form, this fatal flaw proved to be the big man’s downfall – time and time again he would gain the upper hand in the fight, only to become distracted by Zayn.

It wasn’t long before Nakamura took advantage of Braun’s lack of focus to land a Kinsasha, battering his head off the turnbuckle before the trio joined forces to hit him with a Helluva Kick/suplex combination.

To rub salt in the wound, Zayn himself then claimed the pin and the title, with Braun having failed to land a single blow on him throughout their encounter.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro and Sami Zayn (Zayn takes the Intercontinental Championship)

Shanyan Baszler v Natalya v Ruby Riott v Liv Morgan v Sarah Logan v Asuka

This main event match-up put six of the WWE’s finest competitors against each other for the number one contender slot – ensuring the winner a shot at the Raw Women’s Championship belt come Wrestlemania.

While Becky Lynch may have appeared to be untouchable in recent times, this bout seemed to suggest that Baszler is hot on her trail.

As the fourth entrant into the ring, Baszler wasted no time clearing house – eliminating Logan, Riott and Natalya with her deadly Karifuda Clutch.

She did it so quickly that she was left to prowl the ring alone while her next victim prepared to enter. Morgan came in all guns blazing, only to have her skull ricocheted off a pod. Another clutch quickly put paid to her chances as well.

Asuka put up a better fight but was ultimately succumbed to the same hold.

Having crossed five names off her list in a single match, there will only be one name left on Baszler’s mind – Becky Lynch.

Winner: Shanyan Baszler
