After what felt like an extremely drawn out winter, most of the UK are seeing increased temperatures today, which only look set to rise over the weekend. Many are dubbing it a heatwave.

While London look set to experience highs of around 23 degrees celsius, much of Scotland and the North of England will only reach the 15 or 16 degree mark.

Some have taken to social media to share selfies in shorts and sunglasses, while others are complaining that this so-called 'heatwave' isn't particularly warm - here are the funniest and most undeniable British reactions to the weather.

While the news want us to believe it's hotter here than in Spain or Italy, the majority of us are remaining calm and realistic

It’s so hot in Britain you could crack an egg on the pavement and it would just kind of sit there all raw #heatwave

It's not rained for 10 minutes in Manchester so that counts as a #heatwave right?

Even if does start to warm up, will we really be able to enjoy it?

People will just moan it’s too hot #heatwave

We finally have some warmth and the sun is shining but I have a job so I’m stuck in an office all day watching the sun through the window #heatwave

It's been so long since we've seen the sun that some of us have actually forgotten how to cope

Can anyone remember what we’re meant to wear for this kind of thing??? #heatwave pic.twitter.com/SsWc8Y3eDy

The sun is out in Britain. The nation flocks to parks to drink cans of fruity cider and get sunburn as is tradition. A man takes off his shirt in public as a display of dominance but looks like a pale ham mannequin, as is tradition. A 99 with a flake is £60.

At the end of the day, you know things are serious when even Paddington bear is shedding his duffle coat for the occasion

Mrs Bird says that for the first time this year, it's definitely a duffle coat off kind of day. #Heatwave
