For many people who own a Nectar card, the festive period is the best time to spend all those hard earned points.
But some users have been left disappointed after reports of hundreds of pounds worth being ‘stolen’ from their accounts.
Nectar card owners are being advised to check their accounts following a number of claims their points have mysteriously vanished overnight.
Several card owners have been left in a panic after the points they had been saving all year to help cover the costs of Christmas had ‘disappeared’.
Taking to social media to express their concern, distressed Twitter users wrote:
“We have just realised all our nectar points have been stolen!!!! We save them all year for Christmas.”
“My partner’s card has been hacked and our joint nectar points have been stolen. Please advise.”
“My nectar points saved up over the last year in time for Christmas shop have been stolen… and used twice in Northampton area months apart! @nectar can anything be done about redeeming my stolen points?? #6500pointsdown.”
“I have been hit by this scam - 22,000 points were taken from my Nectar card and spent in Brixham… nowhere near where we are in Southampton. I broke down in tears as I was using this as my Christmas spending for my children.”
“I have had 18,000 points spend on my Nectar card two months ago and it wasn’t by me. Nectar told me to contact the police so I did but they told me they have too many things going on to bother with my problem.”

Advice for customers
This is not the first time the Nectar team have had to deal with missing points, with similar incidents being reported by The Sun in the run up to Christmas last year.
At the time, customers were informed by Nectar that they may have been victims of phishing scams, or had a weak password for their accounts that hackers could access.
Customers who have seen their points vanish this year are being advised to report it to Nectar so they can investigate and offer a refund where the loss is genuine.
A Nectar spokesperson told This Is Money: “We ask customers to report any points they believe are missing from their account so that we can investigate and refund points where the loss is genuine.
“We regularly review our security measures to ensure customers are protected and advise customers to regularly update their passwords and be mindful of increasingly sophisticated phishing attempts from fraudsters.”
