Lidl has recalled some cereal bars with possible salmonella contamination - here’s what customers need to know

Supermarket chain Lidl is recalling its Deluxe Dark Chocolate Muesli Bar with Brazils and Cranberries, due to the possible presence of salmonella.

Why are the products being recalled?

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) risk statement explains that the product “may be contaminated with salmonella. Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.”

What is Lidl doing about it?

Lidl GB is recalling the product, with point-of-sale notices displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.

What should I do if I’ve bought this product?

The point-of-sale notice explains that if you have bought the product, you are advised not to eat it.

The notice adds, “If you are already making an essential trip to a Lidl GB store you can return the item to the store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.

“Alternatively, please dispose of the product and email [email protected] including a photo of the affected product and Best Before End date. The Customer Services team will process this refund via letter.”

The notice also explains that other Deluxe products, variants and best before end dates are not affected by this product recall.

“Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused,” adds the point-of-sale notice.
