Number of Covid patients in Bassetlaw Hospital continues to drop

In its weekly update on the Covid-19 situation, Doncaster and Bassetlaw NHS Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust said, that it was currently caring for 33 people with the virus – with only three in critical care.

The number of patients has fallen from 11 to nine at Bassetlaw Hospital.

A spokesman said: "Breaking this down between hospitals, this is 21 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, nine at Bassetlaw (Worksop) and just three at Montagu (Mexborough).

"Of these patients, only three require critical care, and the overall age range is between 18 and 88.

“Throughout the majority of this week, our numbers have continued to decline, and have remained under 50 overall inpatients since Sunday. This is a fantastic achievement and outlines the hard work and dedication local people have shown in curbing infection rates.”

The spokesman added: “But this doesn't mean we can relax just yet - there is still some distance left to run in this pandemic, and as such we must continue to observe hands, face and space, and do all we can to minimise any potential for COVID-19 to surge once again. Let's not fall at the final hurdle - keep it up everyone.”
