Youth charged with manslaughter after Worksop assault

Police investigating the death of a Worksop man have charged a 16-year-old boy with manslaughter.

It follows the death of Glen Kitchens, 40, who was allegedly assaulted in Worksop on Saturday 6th April.

Police officers were called to Bridge Street, at it’s junction with Central Avenue and Ryton Street, at about 7.30pm.

Six teenagers were arrested in relation to the incident. Five have since been released.

The 16-year-old charged, who can not be named for legal reasons, will remain in custody until his appearance at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (Wednesday 10th April 2013).

Mr Kitchens was pronounced dead at Bassetlaw Hospital on Saturday evening.

A post mortem examination concluded that he died from head trauma.
