Why should we be different?

I have a blue badge and walk with a stick in a lot of pain.

I am amazed at the out-cry from other disabled people to expect as their right to be able to drive and park their cars in a pedestrian area.

In the Oxford Dictionary it states Pedestrian: A person walking rather then travelling in a vehicle. Pedestrianized area: A street or area accessible only to pedestrians.

I would like to point out that there are a lot of other disabled people that the free for all affects like the hard of hearing, the blind etc. What about their rights to be able to walk in a safe place?

I would also like to point out that we teach our children and grandchildren the code for crossing the road and waiting at traffic lights till it is safe, how do we teach them to dodge out of the way from vehicles that are driving on the pathway which should be for pedestrians only?

Retford and Nottingham are totally pedestrianized, are they now going to allow vehicles in these areas and if not why not?

I can’t understand why Worksop should be any different. I don’t know of anywhere else in the country where you can drive down the middle of a pedestrian area.

The latest climb down giving in to the minority is a bad move as it has caused more confusion and is an accident waiting to happen as even if the vehicles are travelling slowly they could kill a child who suddenly takes off.

You either have a pedestrian area or you open it back up as a road you can’t have it both ways it doesn’t work!
