On Saturday, March 25, Anston Community Woodland Group planted 105 trees, donated by the Woodland Trust, to create an accessible community woodland for the people of Anston.
Twenty-five volunteers helped during the day. I would like to thank all the people who helped to make this such a great day. Your help and community spirit was invaluable to make this day such a success. Thanks to Judy Reynolds for donating an eight-foot oak tree, which had been grown from an acorn. Thanks to borough councillor Katherine Wilson for giving support and helping plant with us. And finally, thanks to Anston Parish Council for allowing us to create this area for the people of Anston and for future generations to enjoy.
Hopefully Anston Community Woodland Group, as it is in its infancy, can also grow from an acorn to an oak, and go from strength to strength. Providing woodland area in Anston is its mission, but it can only succeed with the help of volunteers. Thanks again to all who helped on the day and maybe we can create something bigger and better in the future.
