Youngsters scout for litter in the Canch

Members of the 12th Worksop URC troop combined what was previously known as ‘Bob a Job Week’ with Keep Britain Tidy’s ‘The Big Tidy Up’ between 3-9 June, to give one of Worksop’s best known green spaces an extra spring clean.
Beaver Leader Janet Silk said: “The week was about raising awareness of the Scouts and giving something back to the local community. We’ve had some great support from people when we’ve had fund-raising days at places like Sainsbury’s and this was our way of saying thank you.”

Coun Julie Leigh, portfolio holder for neighbourshoods, said: “The Scouts did a fantastic job on Saturday and it was great to see young people from the local area wanting to make a difference in their community. I hope their hard work encourages people who use the Canch to dispose of their litter responsibly.”
