Youngsters clean-up town

Young people in Creswell are invited to take part in a clean-up as well as some exciting activities as part of a weekend of action planned for the village.

The clean-up and activity weekend will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th March from 10am to 4pm.

Anyone wanting to take part should meet at Creswell Cricket Club Pavilion, Colliery Road at 10am and wear suitable clothing.

Young people will be asked to join in the clean-up including litter picking, repainting local buildings and general tidying up of the village. Skips will be provided to store unwanted rubbish.

As a reward for their efforts, they will be able to take part in free activities provided by Xtreme Wheels including BMX racing and laser quest and Derbyshire Police will run OzBox fitness sessions.

The event is a joint initiative by Youth United and supported by Bolsover Community Safety Partnership.

Police Community Safety Partnerships chief inspector Brian McKeown said: “This is all about bringing the community together, restoring a sense of pride to the area and most of all having fun. Anyone can attend on one or both days and can stay for as long as they want.”
