Year ban for drink driver

A DRIVER was caught over the limit in Clowne after police received a tip-off, a court heard.

Officers saw John Crouch’s car leave a car park at the Liberty Club in North Road following the call.

“His driving was very slow and the vehicle was all over the carriageway,” Jenny Fitzgerald, prosecuting, told magistrates at Chesterfield.

Crouch was approached by police after he parked and seemed to have difficulty getting out of his car.

He smelled of drink and was arrested after failing a roadside breath test. He later gave a reading of 93mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood.

Crouch, 60, of Pleasant Avenue, Bolsover, admitted drink-driving in Clowne on 17th March.

“He is one of those people who believe that if you limit your drinking to two pints you won’t be over the limit,” said Phil Bloore, for Crouch.

District Judge Andrew Davison banned him from driving for a year and fined him £125, with £85 costs.
