World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Anston people got together to hold a coffee morning for Macmillan cancer support on Friday.

Organised by Anston parish councillor Joyce Brindley, the event was held at the parish hall.

As well as grabbing a cuppa and a bite to eat, visitors also enjoyed a variety of stalls and a tombola.

Coun Brindley thanked all the volunteers, everyone who donated items for the coffee morning and tombola prizes, and Anston Parish Council for free room hire. “With their help we raised £1,113 for this very worthy cause,” she said.

“Thank you so much for helping this charity provide support for cancer sufferers and their families.”

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support’s biggest fundraising event. The charity asks people across the UK to hold a coffee morning, where donations on the day are made to Macmillan.

In 2011 51,000 people signed up to coffee morning, raising a record £10 million.
