Worksop’s space race

After securing three of the twenty places in the UKAYRoC National Final, the teams from Worksop College took part in the rocketry challenge recently.

UKAYRoC is the largest model rocket showcase in the UK and this year’s challenge was to launch two raw hen’s eggs to a height of 800ft and return them safely to the ground within 47 seconds.

The final took place at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground in Leicestershire and despite valiant efforts on the day all the teams suffered difficulties and did not complete the challenge.

Head of Chemistry Matthew Gillard said: “Everyone at Worksop College is delighted that three teams reached the final of UKAYRoC.”
