Worksop: Youngsters enjoy a trip to the champions

Young rugby supporters from a Worksop school followed in the footsteps of legends when they went to the home of 10-time English champions Leicester Tigers.

The group from Prospect Hill School, enjoyed watching the Tigers beat Italian visitors Benetton Treviso 34-3 in the Heineken European Cup and also joined a half-time parade on the pitch in front of a 20,000 crowd and had their photo taken with Tigers player, and New Zealand international, Scott Hamilton.

Teacher Mark Nunn, who accompanied the group, commented: “It was a fantastic day. None of the group have ever been to a rugby match before so it was a great experience to go there and share in a big game like that.”

“Hopefully there are a lot of new rugby fans among them now because they really enjoyed it. The organisation from the club was excellent and we enjoyed the game.”
