The WI group in Worksop are starting its year of social events with a coffee morning.
On Wednesday, October 15 the Worksop Wonders will be throwing open its doors and inviting people to get to know the services available to them in the area.
The group, which is part of the Nottingham branch, will be organising events throughout the year and the event is the first of many.
Committee member Claire Purshouse, 38, said: “This is our first event for the wider district and we wanted to do something which would help people and the morning will be like a signposting day so people know where to go if they need help.”
Representatives from Environmental Health and Age UK will be attending the meeting at Oldcotes Village Hall.
Claire said: “We are a relatively new group and while the older generation is our core membership we want to expand and attract and younger audience and by having these open days it lets people know who we are and what we do.
“When my kids were smaller I went to all the parent-toddler groups but now they are older thy only need me for lifts and joining the WI has filled that gap in my life of meeting new people.” The coffee morning will run from 10am to noon on Wednesday, October 15 £2,50 entry.
