Worksop: Women’s Aid project gets £25,000 from Police and Crime Commissioner’s fund

Mr Tipping met members of staff and users of the schemes run from the centre, which primarily include Hands Not For Hurting, a treatment project for women and children that focuses on healing victims of domestic abuse, and the Star Project which supports teenagers in abusive relationships.

“The money we have received has been vital for us as it has allowed us to run two extra sessions through this financial year.”

“It has made a lot of difference for us and it has allowed us to offer women a lot more options in coping with domestic abuse.”

Mr Tipping said he wanted to support the project to help give victims of domestic abuse more choice in their lives.

“Although crimes has been going down in Notts, the reporting of domestic crime has been going up and I want to give women and their children the opportunities to move forward,” he said.

“Some people face some really difficult decisions in their lives and it’s vital we give these people to make changes.”

“Supporting Women’s Aid is one of my top priorities and projects like this one in Worksop are doing the sort of things I want them to do and they’re keen to more and I want to support that.”

“A project like this gives women opportunities and also helps their children too which is equally important.”

“Above all, it’s about letting people know that they are not alone, there are people there to help them.”
