Worksop: Vicar pays tribute to Kilton girl

After the death of an 11-year-old girl in Kilton, a vicar has paid tribute and urged the community to come together.

Pastor Steve Williams, of OASIS Community Centre and Church, spoke as residents struggled to come to terms with the girl’s death, which prompted a police investigation last week.

He said: “The tragic death of this lovely young girl has shocked, touched and saddened everyone on the Kilton estate and so many people have spoken to me of their shock about it.”

“All of those who work and use the OASIS Community Centre are deeply moved and are willing to do anything to help the family and all who are affected by this tragedy.”

“The members of the OASIS Community Church who manage the centre and meet there have been praying for the family, friends and teachers and all involved.”

Pastor Steve and his team are available to talk with and seek to help anyone who needs help regarding the situation.

He added: “We care about everyone on these estates we serve and especially the children and young people.”

“We all need to take more care of each other, treat people with respect, kindness and value.”

“Every child is precious and every life is fragile and it is just so very sad when something like this happens.”

“There are no easy answers to give. “

“Our prayer and sympathy for each person who is grieving and sad at this time.”
