Andrew was an HGV driver for 28 years, born in Kiveton Park and educated in Worksop.

His Mother, Barbara, said: “From the age of fourteen, Andrew set his sights on becoming a truck driver- we all thought it was a whim until he was caught out playing truant from school.”

“He’d been out on the road with his old school pal David and David’s dad who drove a truck- he didn’t deny what he’d been doing and this was the start of his truck driving career.”

On leaving school, Andrew worked for J.J Hunt before reaching his goal of gaining an HGV license at the age of 21.

He drove for Wilkinson and Rugby Cement before becoming a highly valued driver for Simon Gibson Transport, always going the extra mile to help out a colleague. He made many friends at the companies he visited on a daily basis.

A spokesman for the company said: “He was always laughing and joking, even if you were feeling down he had the ability to lift you up and get you smiling again.”

On 14th August, Andrew’s funeral took place at the Priory Church.

Barbara added: “Simon Gibson did Andrew the greatest honour by taking him on his last journey on his Volvo truck of which Andrew was very proud.”

“The church was full of friends and colleagues and the tributes paid to him showed just how popular and loved he was. Keep on trucking Andrew, you are safe from detention now.”
