Tracey Barlow Furniss Solicitors on Bridge Street in Worksop is closing down.

The Guardian understands that Tracey Barlow Furniss Solicitors, located on Bridge Street, will shut on Sunday 31st August.

The Retford branch, based on New Street, is also believed to be closing, resulting in around 30 job losses in total.

Senior partner, David Grant, said: “It is with regret that TBF Solicitors are to close on the 31st August 2014.”

“We have enjoyed servicing the local community and would hope that they have benefited from our support.”

“We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those that have instructed our firm over the years and all those within the practice who are moving on to new challenges in the legal profession.”

Staff were told around a month ago that they would have to find new jobs but at this stage it us unclear as to why this decision has been made.

However the news comes after a recent announcement that criminal hearings will no longer take place at Worksop Magistrates’ Court.

It is likely to cause some disappointment as the law firm has served the people of the town in a number of matters for many years.

This week an ‘important notice’ was put up on the entrance to the building notifying people that it will not be open for business as of next week.

The notice instructs clients who they should contact for any criminal, family and civil matters or if a person has any queries regarding files.

The TBF website is also currently out of order, with a message which says: “We apologise for any loss of service whilst our website is moved to new servers.”

“We thank you for your patience.”

“In the meantime you can reach us by telephone on 01909 472355.”
