Shane Mark McMillan, 30, of Netherton Road, Worksop, Thomas Leonard Marvell, 27, of Vicars Walk, Worksop, and Nathan Robert Goudercourt, 20, of Barn Close, Worksop, all admitted their part in the robbery at Carcroft Working Men’s Club.

McMillan and Marvell pleaded guilty to charges of robbery and possession of an imitation firearm to commit robbery at hearings in 2014, and Goudercourt pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery.

McMillan and Marvell were today sentenced to 16 years each behind bars, while Goudercourt was jailed for ten years.

Paul Edward Creswick, 29, of Twentylands, Treeton, and Mark Eden, 44, of Sutton Road in Askern, also appeared at Sheffield Crown Court earlier this year in connection with the robbery, each charged with an offence of conspiracy to commit burglary.

Eden also had an additional charge of being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs.

Both pleaded guilty to the charges against them in February 2015 and at court today, Creswick was jailed for six years and nine months and Eden was jailed for six years and six months.

Investigating officer Detective Constable James Burton said: “This has been a lengthy investigation and I am thrilled with the sentences handed to these offenders.

“Our officers spent a considerable amount of time poring over CCTV footage and phone records to piece together this puzzle.

The evidence demonstrated how Mark Eden and Creswick liaised closely with the trio of robbers in the hours before the act.

All five are equally guilty for this pre-meditated and planned operation.”

Police were called at around 6.45am on Friday 27 December 2013 to the Carcroft Working Men’s Club in Chestnut Avenue, Carcroft, following reports of an armed robbery, just a couple of hours after the club had closed following a staff Boxing Day party on Thursday, December 26 2013.

McMillan, Marvell and Goudercourt broke into the living quarters of the club by throwing a brick through the window and threatened the residents with weapons including a screwdriver, a knife and what was believed to be shotgun.

They kept one resident in the bedroom with one robber, while two took the other resident to the safe where around £30,000 cash was stolen.

Officers conducted extensive CCTV enquiries and examined forensic evidence, which tied McMillan, Marvell and Goudercourt to the crime.

After seizing the phones of McMillan and Marvell and comparing that data to CCTV footage, officers came to realise that both men were in frequent contact with an unknown third party.

Through months of phone interrogation and follow-up enquiries, police were able to identify the numbers used.

They discovered that Eden and Creswick were the masterminds behind the venture.

Multiple calls between the robbers and the conspirators took place throughout Boxing Day and in the early hours of Friday, December 27.

The court also heard how McMillan’s car was seen on CCTV a number of times in the club’s car park before the robbery took place.

DC Burton continued: “It is a small mercy that nobody was seriously hurt during this incident, but the financial loss and fear caused to the victims will be lasting.

“I trust that today’s proceedings will enable to victims to move forward, knowing that the individuals responsible are behind bars.”

As part of the investigation into the armed robbery, officers conducted a warrant at Creswick’s address in Treeton in February 2014, where over £3,000 worth of cannabis was seized.

After a separate investigation led by Detective Constable Andrea Smith, Creswick’s partner, Simone Harper, 26, of Twentylands, as well as Mark Eden and his wife Senga, 30, who also worked as a barmaid at the club at the time of the robbery, were all charged with being concerned in the supply of cannabis in late 2014.

The two women pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs, specifically cannabis, at the hearing in February 2015 alongside Mark Eden.

Senga Eden, of Sutton Road, was jailed for six months, while Harper was jailed for three months.

DC Smith said: “During a warrant for the armed robbery, we found a significant amount of cannabis at Harper’s home in Treeton.

“Following a robust inquiry we charged three people, one of which had been identified as being a key player in the robbery in Carcroft.

“Mark Eden has demonstrated that he engaged in various criminal activities and I am pleased that he and his associates been taken off the streets of Doncaster.

“Senga Eden and Harper have admitted their involvement and now face custodial sentences as well.

South Yorkshire Police will not tolerate criminality and, as this case has shown, when we are presented with an opportunity to investigate and prosecute additional offences, we will do so.”
