Talented dancers from Rebecca’s Dance Studios in Worksop beat off stiff competition to be crowned winners at the Can You Dance 2015 dance convention in Nottingham on Sunday 7th June.

They competed with their Junior Troupe performing an upbeat dance routine to ‘Do Re Mi’ and were over the moon when they won 1st place.

The girls train weekly at Rebecca’s Dance Studios at Carlton-in-Lindrick Civic Centre and compete nationally at dance events.

Can You Dance is the UKs first touring dance convention where dancers from across the country come together to be taught by top choreographers.

After a morning of masterclasses in different dance styles, dance schools compete in a showcase. Each school receives live feedback from a judging panel of professionals.

Principal of Rebecca’s Dance Studios, Rebecca Doona said: “It was an amazing day. This is the first time that we have entered our junior troupe so we were delighted that they won. Our routine is not the traditional Do Re Mi that audiences expect, it is an upbeat streetdance version that has everyone dancing in their seats. Matt Flint, one of the judges, said he wished Julie Andrews could see it! I am so proud of the girls, they work so hard in training and they thoroughly deserve it.”

The troupe came home with a trophy, certificate and free entry into next year’s convention.
