WORKSOP: Sweet start to partnership

A Worksop Wilkinson store has raised £800 off the back of recently announcing their brand new charity partnership with The Children’s Hospital.

Team members from the Wilko store, located in Worksop’s Priory Shopping Centre, baked and held a sweets and cake stall whilst bearing their new regional charity’s t-shirts to raise awareness for the cause.

After twelve months of supporting Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, the store is now planning a year of activity to raise vital funds for The Children’s Hospital charity, which fundraises for Sheffield Children’s Hospital - one of only four stand-alone children’s hospitals in the UK.

Dave Walker, store manager of the Wilko store in Worksop, said: “We had a wonderful year supporting Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance and we hope we made a real difference to the charity.

“As a community focused company, we’re always keen to help as many worthy causes in our local area as we can, and we chose The Children’s Hospital Charity to be our new charity of the year as a team.

“Our cake sale was a great success and the team can’t wait to get fundraising for the rest of the year. We have plenty of ideas in the pipeline and we hope our loyal customers in Worksop will support them and see us on our way to another amazing total over the next 12 months.”

Tchad Western, corporate fundraiser for The Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “We’re thrilled to have the Wilko team on board as a key fundraiser and we’re so happy they chose us as their charity of the year.

“We’re so grateful for all the support that the team will be giving us over the coming year and we’re looking forward to developing a wonderful partnership.”

Any future donation from Wilko will be used to fund four key areas within the hospital, including; research, new facilities, specialist medical care and improvements to the hospital environment which would be otherwise unaffordable under the NHS.
