Members of the newly elected school council were accompanied by headteacher Jackie Ryan, Coun Glynn Gilfoyle, teacher Laura Gee and teaching assistant Lisa Slaney.

The trip was organised by MP John Mann.

The visit started with a tour of Parliament.

Then the children walked to Downing Street where an appointment to stand outside had been organised by John Mann’s team.

Laura Gee said: “The children loved the experience of having the privilege to stand outside 10 Downing Street. This experience is something that they will remember forever.”

Later in the day they went on the London Eye and took a visit to the National Gallery to look at some of the work by artists they had studied last year.
