Worksop: St Anne’s pupils swap books for chefs hats

Children in Class 5 found the perfect receipe for success by designing a food menu for Clumber Park Hotel - for their homework.

The creative youngsters excelled and came up with tasty dishes such as homemade breaded goujons with a tomato or sour cream dip or a Clumber beef burger with chips and melted cheese.

Class teacher, Georgina Spittlehouse, said: “All the children at St Annes are creative and they were inspired by the task.”

“It was set as a learning log for homework and they were asked to think about food that they like but also dishes that are healthy and exciting.”

“They seemed to really enjoy it because it was a real task creative a food menu for a restaurant.”

“The children back with some great ideas and designs.”

To celebrate the creation of the menu, Rachel Beer, Clumber Park Hotel sales manager visited the school and help the children make some ice cream sundaes.

Rachel said: “We were very keen to work with a local school and involve the children to get their input on the food that they would like to see on a menu when they go out to eat with their family and friends.

“The Class 5 children were very creative in this task and came up with some super ideas which are also very yummy!

“Please come along and sample for yourselves.”

Starters on the menu include a soup of the day with garlic bread sticks, carrot and cucumber sticks with dip and nachos with spicy tomato and melted cheese.

Desserts are a choice from apple crumble with ice cream, sprinkles and sauce, a Clumber sundae with a choice of ice cream or a chocolate brownie served with cream or ice cream.

To accompany the dishes, the drinks on offer range from fruit smoothies to fruit juices to milkshakes.

As part of the initiative, Clumber Park Hotel are offering 50 per cent off each child’s meal from the children’s menu with a full-price adult’s main course.
