Worksop: Sneak-in robber attacks man for jars of small change - then cuts phone line off

A robber sneaked into an elderly man’s house in Worksop and attacked him for jars of small change.

The intruder is believed to have entered through the unlocked front door of the house in High Hoe Road, in Kilton, at about 10.30pm on Wednesday 16th July 2014.

He confronted the 77-year-old victim, demanding cash before pushing him and searching his pockets for cash.

He then stole two spherical glass money banks, one containing five pence pieces and the other containing 10 pence and 20 pence pieces.

Before leaving the scene the stranger cut the cable to the occupant’s phone.

He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall and of a medium to stocky build. He was about 30 years old and was wearing a grey hooded top pulled up over his head and a covering over the lower half of his face.

The victim was uninjured but distressed by the intrusion.

Enquiries have been made in the area and patrols have been increased to deter further crime.
