The session was part of a scheme run by the Worksop & District U3A and sponsored by Dobbies Garden Centre.

“The whole idea was to encourage more children to try out gardening and discover the joys of planting things,” said Lorraine Wood of the U3A.

“They planted daffodils, lavender bushes, cabbages and plenty of other plants and vegetables too.”

“We got involved after I went to Dobbies and they gave us a voucher for the centre, which we donated to St Anne’s.”

“Dobbies supplied all the seeds and the trowels and equipment on the day and it was a really good afternoon.”

“All the children were enjoying the chance to get outside and try some gardening and that’s what this scheme is all about.”
