Worksop: Sainsbury’s says farewell to NORSACA after year of support

Customers and staff at Sainsbury’s Worksop have been thanked as the store said farewell to NORSACA after the last year of support. Over the last 12 months the supermarket has raised more than £3,000 for the charity to help build a potting shed and convert a garage into a wood workshop on Raines Avenue. The relationship between the two organisations has grown and friendship has blossomed between staff and the service users at the charity’s enterprise unit. One of the NORSACA students, Aaron Barber also had work experience at the store. Nigel Cooper, Raines Avenue gardening project co-ordinator, said: “The most rewarding feature of being Sainsbury’s local charity of the year is the raising of autism awareness when we are in-store. Many people and families have approached the enterprise unit stand to share experiences and obtain information of what NORSACA has to offer in the Worksop area.” The store is currently choosing its next local charity partner, after creating a shortlist from customer nominations.
