Mrs Ann Naylor announced that she will be leaving the academy, based on Sparken Hill in Worksop, at the end of July.

Mrs Naylor is well known throughout the area, having worked as a teacherfor 39 years, 25 of which have been in the Manton area.

The schools she has worked at include Lincoln Street, Manton Junior School, New Manton Primary School, Ryton Park along with Sparken Hill Academy.

During her career, Mrs Naylor has taught hundreds of young people in Worksop, many of which are now parents of pupils at Sparken Hill.

To say goodbye to their assistant headteacher, pupils at the school prepared a special celebratory assembly for Mrs Naylor which included a ‘TV programme’ with sound bites and videos from pupils, parents and fellow staff members.

Pupils even sang a song which was specially written for the occasion at their Leaver’s Assembly.

Principal of Sparken Hill Academy, Mr Lilley, said: “Ann will be so missed by all of our school community.

“She has been a fabulous asset to our school and her dedication to the local area just cannot be underestimated.

“We have been very lucky to have had such a dedicated and respected professional at Sparken Hill Academy.

“We wish her all the happiness in the world during her retirement.”
