Reta Randall and her husband Kurt, of Cheapside, who run the Japanese-influenced Miashy, Bridgegate Centre, Retford, were joint-winners of the Best Asian Experience Award at the Nottinghamshire Food and Drink Awards 2015 with fine-dining Indian restaurant MemSaab.

The special black-tie evening was hosted by MasterChef’s Gregg Wallace, with more than 400 guests in attendance at the East Midlands Conference Centre last month.

Reta said: “It still hasn’t sunk in really.”

“When they called our name out it was amazing.”

“We did not expect to win it to be honest.”

Miashy was nominated for the award by members of the public and then the business was secretly judged before they were announced as one of the finalists.

Reta runs the front-of-house, while Kurt, a former head chef on the Orient Express, prepares fresh and healthy foods which have a ‘modern twist’.

“We were just pleased to have been nominated by our customers,” Reta added.
