Worksop: Remembering crash victim James Bunning at music festival

A brother and sister whose friend died in a car crash are preparing to host their sixth annual charity music festival in his memory next month.

Roseanna and Luke Burton were determined to honour the life of their childhood friend, James Bunning, who died in April 2008 in a collison on North Road, Retford.

They wanted to do it in a way they knew he would love, and were inspired to launch Bunfest, an alternative music festival, to be held this year on Saturday August 8th at the Frog and Nightgown in Worksop. Roseanna said: “We wanted to do something that would raise awareness of road safety, but also that would allow us to celebrate James’s life, personality and love of music.”

In past years, Bunfest has raised money for road accident charity Brake, but this year Roseanna and Luke have decided to share the proceeds with St John Ambulance.

Roseanna said: “As the event has grown, it would be good to extend our support.

“St John Ambulance were on the scene on the day of the crash and save so many lives and in emergency situations.”

St John’s Chris Thornton thanked the Burtons and said the money would be used to recruit and train more life-saving volunteers.
