Tributes have poured in from the Polish community in Worksop following the deaths of two people.

The bodies of a man and a woman were found by police just after 7am on Monday 21st April at a house on Hardwick Road East.

The pair originated from Poland and have been named locally as Leszek Dantes and his wife Malgorzata.

A 28-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Katarzyna Kosik, of local food store Tadek on Gateford Road, said: “The woman came into the shop just on Saturday.”

“She was buying her shopping for Easter.”

“She came in most days to buy things from here.”

“It is very shocking, I cannot believe it.”

“I do not know what to think at the moment.”

“You would not expect this sort of thing to happen.”

“They were very nice people.”

It is thought the man and woman had lived in the house for around eight months.

Residents on the street say they were very polite people who would always say ‘hello.’

Fellow shop workers said they could not believe what had happened.

Iwona said: “It is terrible.”

“It has made me unhappy.”

Justyna Wilczkowiak said: “People have spoken a little bit about it in the shop but we are just so shocked.”
