Worksop: Police release images of four men banned from pubs after street brawl

The prolonged fight took place in the Portland Street area during the early hours of Saturday 12th October 2013.

Officers scoured hours of CCTV footage to identify those involved as punches were thrown and kicks aimed as chaos erupted.

They pleaded guilty to affray at previous hearings at Worksop Magistrates’ Court.

Worksop neighbourhood inspector, Phil Davies, said: “This was an interesting case in that we were able to pursue convictions for these men without a single formal complaint from a victim.”

“I would like to acknowledge the Worksop Guardian and the local community for their assistance in identifying the offenders in a bid to keep their neighbourhoods safe.”

At the June hearings, 26-year-old Thomas Brumpton, of Rushley Close, and Nicklas Cliffe, 25, of Sime Street, were each jailed for 24 weeks.

Jake Cropley, 19, of Rufford Street, was jailed for 12 weeks.

Twenty-three-year-old Matthew White, of Bracebridge Avenue, received an eight-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, as well as 150 hours of unpaid work to be completed in a year.

Brumpton, Cliffe, Cropley and White were also banned from town centre pubs including The Swan Inn, The Liquorice Gardens, the Queen’s Head, The Unicorn, The Vine Hotel, The Frog and Nightgown, The Ashley Hotel, The Cannon, The Romans Rest, Disreali’s/Heroes, Yates’, The Cornerhouse, The Flag, and the King Edward VII.

And last week, Anthony ‘Stan’ Handley, 49, of Lanchester Gardens, was handed a 12-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, and an alcohol rehabilitation order, after pleading guilty at Worksop Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 24th July.

Insp Davies added: “Let this be a clear message to all that violence of any kind will not be tolerated in our communities and we will use all the powers available to us to bring such offenders before a judge.”
