It is alleged that the motorcycle was on the wrong side of the road, having overtaken a car that was also travelling towards Sheffield.

It is believed that the Peugeot lost control while swerving to avoid the motorcycle and skidded off the road into the wooded area next to the carriageway. It then reportedly collided with a wooden telegraph pole, a stone wall, and numerous trees.

The motorcycle allegedly failed to stop at the scene. There are no details available about the motorcycle, but it is believed that the rider was wearing a helmet, and was reportedly wearing two tyres around his neck.
