Worksop: People attend special service to mark 70th anniversary of VE Day

Families and friends attended a special service in Worksop to mark the 70th anniversary of VE Day last week.

Residents gathered together in front of the Town Hall on Friday 8th May to remember those who lost their lives during the Second World War.

People danced to music, visited stalls and took part in various activities.

Similar events were held across the UK including at Westminster Abbey where the Royal Family joined 1,000 military veterans in attending a service of thanksgiving.

More than 580,000 members of the UK and Commonwealth forces lost their lives, with 67,073 British civilians, during six years of conflict.
