Cheryl Perkins, who works at Redlands Primary School in Worksop, was nominated for the accolade by Rachel Sanaghan on behalf of her 11-year-old son, Joshua.

Joshua, who has learning difficulties, has thanked Cheryl for providing extra support and taking him ‘under her wing’ since he arrived at Redlands seven years ago.

Thanks to her help, Joshua has gone from strength to strength with his studies and is now looking forward to starting his secondary school education at Outwood Academy Valley in September. He has even enrolled on a trip with the school’s Summer Camp.

Rachel said: “I honestly don’t think that Mrs Perkins can be beaten. She has been amazing with my son and we can’t thank her enough for all she has done.”

“They have become very close and I don’t know who is going to miss who the most!”

Cheryl said: “Josh kept saying he had a surprise for me but I had no idea what it was. It was a still a big shock! But it’s lovely to have been nominated.”

“I have been helping Josh since he was in reception and will miss him a lot.”

Our Guardian Roses are generously donated by Walker’s House of Flowers, located in the Priory Shopping Centre. Call 01909 484507 for more details.
