Worksop: New homes in Claylands to be built near waste transfer station

A planning application has been submitted for 32 homes on land off Claylands Avenue in Worksop.

Dinnington building firm G Sanders Builders Ltd has been granted outline planning permission to erect up to 32 new homes.

However, the site just off Claylands Avenue, will be close to the controversial new waste transfer station which is being built at the location of the old Dukeries House.

Coun Bill Barker, chair of the planning committee, said: “All aspects of the application submitted by G Sanders Builders Ltd were considered, including those of residents who raised concerns over the additional traffic this development may generate. While this issue was not treated lightly, in this instance, Notts County Council Highways raised no objections.”

The site has previously been used as a car park and is bounded by allotments, dwellings and industrial units, and is located outside an area formerly regarded as ‘protected employment land’ between residential properties.

Coun Barker added: “While outline permission has been granted, any further detail of the development will be considered as part of a reserved matters application.”
